Wilson County's own comprehensive plan calls for creating public recreational opportunities in the County and specifically says: “Acquire or activate space for future County park(s) and recreational areas, including but not limited to greenways (multi-use trails) and boat launches.” It then sets a measurable target: more than 1 new facility within 3 years and more than 4 facilities within 5 years. Pages 31, 40/42, 66-69, 83, 95, 100, & onward.
In 2025, the State offered select counties an opportunity to "help eastern North Carolina increase tourism, improve quality of life, and introduce more people to our state’s natural beauty.”
Blake will make sure Wilson County is included in opportunities like this in the future.
